This is a story based loosely on my experience in engineering and manufacturing. It takes place over a five-year period.
The main character was involved in a bar fight shooting. He was the only survivor in a police van wreck.
He decides to flee Canada because a fair trial for an American shooting suspect probably will not end well.
He returns to San Diego, where he attended college in the past. Finding a job, he restarts his engineering career with a local San Diego company. He eventually works with an old college buddy.
There is a new corporation in town, setting up a large manufacturing plant from scratch.
He convinces his buddy that the two of them should offer themselves to this company as a package deal during the hiring process.
Successfully selling themselves to the company then places both in a position where the challenge is huge, the stakes are high, failure is not an option. Confident, brash, outliers, and intolerant of stupidity, they embark on a roller coaster of a ride.

This whole story is an unknown to me. It doesn’t fit clearly in any genre, so I’m asking for suggestions for placement. It’s probably best read by guys with a background in engineering and manufacturing because of the technical content. I’m open to suggestions for changing the story around so it will appeal to a wider audience, but the main characters need to remain true to the original story.

Be aware that this a period piece. The language, treatment of women, and technical descriptions accurately reflect the attitudes of the late sixties and early seventies.
